Nothing calls for page-turning, escape reading more than summer, so now we bring you a book group to discuss these engrossing, plot-forward reads. These books are complex enough to discuss, but breezy enough to read poolside. Summer schedules are erratic, so join us for individual sessions, or sign up for the full course. It's online so you can meet up from wherever summer travel takes you. This book group will be both informative and fun!

Session 1, June 30: Black Cake, by Charmaine Wilkerson

Session 2, July 28: Properties of Thirst, by Marianne Wiggins

Session 3, August 25: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow , by Gabrielle Zevin (out in paperback June 25)

Karen Secrist is an educator, editor, dog lover, and voracious reader. She holds an M.A. in Contemporary Art from the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid and a Ph.D. in Spanish, Latin American, and Latinx Literature from Duke University. She currently lives in Galicia, Spain, along the Camino de Santiago.
