Scott Strazzante - Shooting from the Hip (Corte Madera Store)

In Shooting from the Hip, Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Scott Strazzante uses an iPhone and the Hipstamatic app to capture the whimsy and irony, struggle and strength of everyday America. Influenced by the work of Garry Winogrand and Robert Frank, Strazzante's modern twist on classic street photography fuses his shooting from the hip style with the serendipity of life, for a revealing vision of today's world.

Scott Strazzante joined the photography staff at the San Francisco Chronicle in 2014 after spending the first 27 years of his career at Chicago newspapers, including 13 at the Chicago Tribune. Strazzante is a former POY/NPPA National Newspaper Photographer of the Year, an 11-time Illinois Photographer of the Year and was part of a Chicago Tribune team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2007 for investigative journalism. Strazzante's personal project, Common Ground, has been featured in National Geographic, Mother Jones, New York Times Lens Blog and on CBS Sunday Morning. The 23-year-long effort, which has won BOP's Best Feature Video and POY's Community Awareness Award, became his first book with PSG. In 2016, twenty years after being named an Outstanding Young Alumni, Strazzante received a Distinguished Alumni Citation from Ripon College.
