Mohamed Owedah & Galia Galili - Combatants for Peace (Corte Madera)

Thursday, November 9, 2017 - 7:00pm

Sponsored by J Street and the New Israel Fund

Combatants for Peace is a group of Palestinians and Israelis who have taken an active part in the cycle of violence in our region: Israeli soldiers serving in the IDF and Palestinians as combatants fighting to free their country, Palestine, from the Israeli occupation. The egalitarian, bi-national, grassroots organization was founded on the belief that the cycle of violence can only be broken when Israelis and Palestinians join forces. Combatants for Peace is the only organization, worldwide, in which former fighters on both sides of an active conflict have laid down their weapons, choosing to work together for peace and justice. Combatants for Peace was nominated for the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize.

Mohamed Owedah, a social worker, was born in the village of Silwan in East Jerusalem, Al Quds. He currently serves as the Palestinian General Coordinator of Combatants for Peace.

Galia Galili is currently the Israeli Steering Committee Member of Combatants for Peace.
