Margaretta K. Mitchell & Sim Warkov - Island Dreams (Corte Madera Store)

Saturday, June 9, 2018 - 4:00pm

In the book, Island Dreams, readers travel to a mystical place, an island in time. There they explore a landscape where, in poetry and photographs, nature sparks the mind to invent a concept for each image. With heart and imagination, photographer Margaretta K. Mitchell and poet Sim Warkov combine their talents to create literal and visual poetry.

Margaretta K. Mitchell is a well-established photographer, writer and educator. Besides photographing people, gardens, and other assignments, she exhibits her fine art photography nationally. She is the author of five books, including Recollections: Ten Women of Photography in 1979, and Ruth Bernhard: Between Art and Life. Her book, The Face of Poetry features her black and white portraits of a significant selection of remarkable American poets set in conversations with their poems.

Sim Warkov retired from the University of Connecticut in 1996, and subsequently moved to the Bay Area. He has published three previous volumes of poetry: Reaching (2005); Thin Soils (2009): and Grandchildren (2011).
