Meet & Greet Following CUESA Demo!

Influenced by global cuisines and fresh ingredients, The New Family Table features more than 60 no-fuss recipes, from Sweet Potato Burritos and Spicy Quinoa Bowls, to a Kid-Friendly Kale Salad, and Brownie Ice Cream Sandwiches. Through stories and recipes, Dr. Julia Nordgren shares insightful tips, techniques, and practical advice that will help make family meals tasty, fun, and fulfilling. Combining her passion for healthy and delicious food, and her medical background, Dr. Nordgren’s culinary degree enables her to explain how diet impacts health in real terms. As a parent of two, Dr. Nordgren is no stranger to dealing with picky appetites. The recipes include family favorites, field tested in her kitchen, such as Andrew’s Favorite Fajitas, Week- night Chickpea Curry, and Rob’s Almost-World Famous Veggie Chili, all of which are sure to rally families around the dinner table.

Dr. Julia Nordgren is a pediatrician and trained chef. Her years of treating patients for cholesterol disorders, prediabetes, and childhood obesity are what motivated her to enroll in the Culinary Institute of America’s Accelerated Culinary Arts Certificate Program, where she graduated with honors. Since then, Dr. Nordgren has helped countless families move the needle on becoming more intentional about their eating, while developing sustainable and impactful lifestyle changes. Dr. Nordgren maintains a vibrant pediatric weight management practice at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, and leads a hands-on Culinary Medicine class at the Stanford University Teaching Kitchen. Dr. Nordgren received her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School, completing her pediatrics residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was elected Chief Resident. She lives and practices medicine in Palo Alto, where she tests many of her recipes on her husband and two boys, who luckily have adventurous appetites and honest opinions.

We are pleased to share our Saturday mornings at the Ferry Building with our friends at CUESA, as they host well-known chefs at their demonstration kitchen. The food-portion of the events usually start at the market about an hour or so earlier than the times listed below. We invite the chefs and their fans to take a short walk over to our store where they can meet their readers and sign their books.
