We are at an inflection point, with artificial intelligence reshaping nearly everything, including business, medicine, creative work, and education. In the press, we hear AI could solve the most difficult questions facing humanity or it could bring about our demise. The class will cover how we got here, where we are now, and where we might be headed. With understanding, we'll be able to think about this phenomenon more clearly and make better decisions. This class is well-suited for the non-techie who wants to understand this technology from a big-picture perspective.

Nina Schuyler is the author of Afterword, a novel that explores artificial intelligence, love, privacy, human-machine relationships, and women in technology. She teaches creative writing at Stanford Continuing Education and the University of San Francisco
