Class: Kerrin Meis - The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood & the Aesthetic Movement (Corte Madera Store)

Friday, June 22, 2018 - 1:00pm

Two Fridays; June 22 & 29  • 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm • $80

Twelve years ago the FAMSF arranged an exhibition: The Cult of Beauty. To explore this late Victorian phenomenon, we’ll look at a show entitled Truth and Beauty: The Pre-Raphaelites and the Old Masters opening at the end of June. To provide background let's look at the origins of the PRB, the Gothic Revival, connections to the Arts and Crafts movement, the Japonisme of Whistler, Burne-Jones, William Morris; Wm. Hollman Hunt; Dante Gabriel Rosetti, John Everett Millais and, of course, Oscar Wilde.

Kerrin Meis taught art history at SFSU for ten years, and she currently teaches for the OLLI programs at Dominican University and UC Berkeley. She leads study tours in Europe. Her Book Passage classes have been big favorites for years.
