Six Wednesdays • Jan 8 – Feb 12 • 10:00am-12:00pm • $200

We will read Una Mutevole Verità by Gianrico Carofiglio, in which Marshal Pietro Fenoglio of the Bari Carabinieri, a northern Italian transplant from Torino, finds himself investigating a murder case that seems straightforward. Except that the main subject, to whom all clues point, doesn’t have the slightest motive for committing the crime! Only the perseverance and the singular investigative style of Fenoglio will reveal the truth of the case which often hides behind the most discounted evidence. Students are asked to read the first twenty pages of the book in advance of the first class meeting.

Kathy Freschi has been teaching Italian for over 40 years at UC Santa Barbara, UC Berkeley and College of Marin. In 1987, she founded the Credit Program of Italian at College of Marin, for which she was awarded La Stella d’Italia by the Republic of Italy.
