At 12, Gabrielle Hamilton started working as a dishwasher and from there went on to college, cook, cater, until she opened up New York's beloved Lower East Side restaurant Prune in 1999. Hamilton has become one of America's most recognized chefs and her bestselling memoir, Blood, Bones and Butter, captured readers' hearts. The Prune recipe book offers 250 favorite recipes written from a unique cook-to-cook perspective. Her straight forward, down home cooking style garnered not only neighborhood loyalty but nods from food critics, gourmands and fellow chefs alike.
