Join award-winning landscape, food, and wine photographers Robert Holmes and Andrea Johnson for a day of exploration and photography. Throughout the day, they demonstrate the art of finding, framing, and capturing photos. Participants have time to wander and photograph one of Marin’s most scenic open spaces. They will then meet over a picnic lunch to talk about their experiences and share their work.

Join acclaimed National Geographic and Gadling.com travel writer and editor Don George for a day of exploration and travel writing in beautiful Point Reyes. George demonstrates the art of finding, researching, and note-taking in the field. Participants will explore the shops and sites of this seaside town, as well as the rolling hills and sweeping ocean views. The group gathers over a picnic lunch to talk about the writing experience and to discuss their work.

In conjunction with our 2014 Travel Writers & Photographers Conference, Book Passage welcomes travel writers Tim Cahill and Andrew McCarthy for an evening of conversation. Cahill is the author of numerous bestselling books on travel, including Jaguars Ripped My Flesh, Road Fever, A Wolverine is Eating My Leg, and Pass the Buttworms. He is the founding editor of Outside magazine. McCarthy is a writer, actor, and director. He is an editor-at-large with National Geographic Traveler and has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, and The Wall Street Journal. He is the author of The Longest Way Home: One Man's Quest for the Courage to Settle Down. McCarthy made his acting debut at nineteen and has appeared in dozens of films, including Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo’s Fire, and The Joy Luck Club.
