Maybe I shoudl have written this bigger!
Okay, we admit that we’re biased on this one. The heroine is a bookstore manager, and the author is our colleague/partner. That would probably be enough to get us hooked, but there is so much more to this story. This is a fast-moving suspense tale that looks at the grim effects of war, sexual abuse, and gun violence, but it still finds time for love—sometimes in unexpected places. The protagonist is a refugee from the civil war in Bosnia who learns that a long-lost child has been adopted into an abusive situation. That discovery sets the tale in motion. —Luisa & Elaine

About the Author
Bill Petrocelli is the author of the novel The Circle of Thirteen. He is co-owner with his wife, Elaine, of Book Passage with bookstores in Corte Madera, San Francisco, and Sausalito. Bill is a former attorney with the California Attorney General and previously headed a poverty law office in Oakland. His previous books were Low Profile: How to Avoid the Privacy Invaders and Sexual Harassment on the Job: What it is and How to Stop it.
