Kid Lit Salon

The Bay Area is home to a remarkably high number of published children’s book writers and illustrators, and is an absolute hotbed of emerging talent. Book Passage is thrilled to host the Kid Lit Salon for both established and beginning children’s book writers and illustrators (and grown-ups who just plain love kids’ books and like to laugh). Crawl out of your cave and come socialize with like-minded, creative types in your field. Our evenings include a wildly diverse array of speakers (primarily in panel format), member updates, event, conference, retreat and grant info, ever-evolving Web essentials, cool insider tips—AND, for anyone who can stay and linger a while, we’ll gather at the next door watering-hole for relaxed schmoozing and casual conversation.

Book Passage showcases Kid Lit Salon member books. Writer and illustrator Lissa Rovetch is the author of Ook the Book and the Hot Dog and Bob chapter book series. She illustrated her 84 year-old mother's book There Was a Man Who Loved a Rat and Other Vile Little Poems, writes the "Ask Arizona" series for Highlights Magazine, and teaches Children's Book Writing and Illustration at Pixar, Disney and at home.
