Join us for a reception with local artist Tom Killion.
Tom was born and raised in Marin County, where the rugged scenery inspired him from an early age to create landscape prints using linoleum and wood, strongly influenced by the traditional Japanese Ukiyo-style of Hokusai and Hiroshige. In 1977 he founded his own Quail Press, where he has printed five handmade art books depicting landscapes from California to Europe and Africa. In 2000 Killion published The High Sierra of California in collaboration with Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gary Snyder. Their second collaboration, Tamalpais Walking was published in 2009. Tom Killion has shown his work around the United States and Europe, including recent shows at the USF's Thacher Gallery, Ansel Adams Gallery and The Book Club of California.
"Tom Killion Woodcut Prints" is on display December through February 2013.
