In The Sleeping Lady, life is good for thirty-five- year-old Rae Sullivan. Co-owner of a thriving home décor boutique and happily married, she lives and works in bucolic Marin County, an oasis of nature amid the bustling San Francisco Bay Area. But her comfortable existence is disrupted when someone murders her business partner in Golden Gate Park Rae is convinced that the killing was a blackmail attempt gone wrong—and she’s equally certain of the killer’s identity. But she can’t get the police to take her story seriously. Then a past scandal from Rae’s career resurfaces, and the detectives turn their focus on her. In frustration, she takes matters into her own hands, despite the urging of her husband to let the police handle it.

Her sleuthing eventually leads her to Paris, where she joins forces with the victim’s handsome half brother. As they pursue the culprit together, not only does the attraction between them simmer, but their lives are on the line as they face off with their quarry.

Bonnie Monte has been an editor and writer in the Bay Area for three decades. She was a senior editor at a national magazine, editorial director of a gardening catalog, copywriter for major retailers, and managing editor of home and garden books for Sunset.
