Michael Koppy - Ashmore's Store

Come listen to author/guitarist Michael Koppy as he presents Ashmore's Store ($20). His self-proclaimed style includes old cowboy songs he’s changed to his liking, blues he’s learned from friends and street musicians way back when, ballads he’s modified, his own interpretations of traditional tunes, and bastardized pop ditties he’d heard so long ago he’d forgotten where, along with idiosyncratic originals that are hard to classify.

Ashmore’s Store
is a CD music album, with songwriting that is both stunningly literate and wildly eclectic, housed in a hard-bound smyth-sewn book filled with stories and anecdotes about the author’s growing up in the Deep South. The print component by itself was called “Like a real-life ‘News from Lake Wobegon’” by critic Ken Bullock in The Berkeley Daily Planet. Ashmore’s Store was named “The Best Album of 2012” by critic Paul Riley in Country Music People Magazine.
