Larry Habegger et al - The Best Travel Writing Volume 9

The Best Travel Writing, Volume 9 ($19.95) is the latest in the annual Travelers' Tales series launched in 2004 to celebrate the world's best travel writing — from Nobel Prize winners to emerging new writers. The points of view and perspectives are global, and themes encompass high adventure, spiritual growth, romance, hilarity and misadventure, service to humanity, and encounters with exotic cuisines and cultures.

Tim Cahill has been laboring in the salt mines of travel writing for more than forty years. He is the author of nine books and the winner of many awards, including The National Magazine Award and several Lowell Thomas Awards from the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation.

Erin Byrne is a writer whose essays have won numerous awards, including the 2012 Travelers’ Tales Grand Prize Silver Solas Award for Best Travel Story of the Year and Spirals, Memoir of a Celtic Soul. Erin’s work has appeared in Everywhere magazine, World Hum, The Literary Traveler, Brave New Traveler, Travelers’ Tales Best Travel Writing 2011, Crab Creek Review and many other publications.

Marcia DeSanctis is a writer whose work has appeared in many publications, including Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, and Town & Country.

Colette O’Connor's stories that have appeared in a number of Travelers’ Tales anthologies, among them Travelers’ Tales Paris, Sand in My Bra and Other Misadventures, Whose Panties Are Those?, The Best Women’s Travel Writing (2005 and 2010), and The Best Travel Writing (2010 and 2011).

Larry Habegger, executive editor of Travelers’ Tales, has visited almost fifty countries and six of the seven continents, traveling from the Arctic to equatorial rainforests, the Himalayas to the Dead Sea. In the 1980s he co-authored mystery serials for the San Francisco Examiner with James O’Reilly, and since 1985 has written a syndicated column, “World Travel Watch” (WorldTravelWatch.com). Habegger regularly teaches travel writing at workshops and writers’ conferences, is a principal of the Prose Doctors (prosedoctors.com), editor-in-chief of Triporati.com, a destination discovery site, and editor of the annual magazine The Travel Guide to California. He lives with his family on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco.
