Gary Soto is a widely published author of children's and young adult fiction, and he is an acclaimed poet -- often referred to as one of the nation's first Chicano poets. He is also the author of more than 35 books for young readers, including Baseball in April, Taking Sides, Too Many Tamales, and Chato's Kitchen.
