John Perry - The Art of Procrastination: A Guide to Effective Dawdling, Lollygagging, and Postponing
Start: 7:00 pm
In The Art of Procrastination ($12.95), John Perry doesn’t shame us for our habits, but rather celebrates the positive, quirky, and humorous realities of the procrastinator. We can’t change our ways, asserts Perry, but we can try to better understand why we do the seemingly nonsensical things we do as we avoid, push off, delay, and find endless ways to justify our behavior. Perry also celebrates procrastination’s greatest gift: the chance to accomplish surprising, wonderful things by not sticking to a rigid schedule. John Perry is an internationally recognized philosopher and a professor emeritus at Stanford, where he taught philosophy from 1974 to 2008. He is a professor at the University of California, Riverside. He is also the cohost of the public radio show Philosophy Talk, which is broadcast regularly on more than 50 stations in 20 states. The father of three grown children, he lives with his wife in Palo Alto, California.
