Shipping/Returns Staff

Book Passage bookstores are hiring for a full time position in our returns department. Working in returns entails the pulling, packing, boxing, and shipping of books to publishers coast to coast. This position regularly works with our accounting office to ensure timely return of books, magazine covers, and sidelines merchandise to maximize credit. Qualified candidates will be comfortable using shipping software, have a strong attention to detail, have a current California driver's license in good standing, and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Love of books and bookstore experience a plus! This position is for our Corte Madera store. EOE. Events Coordinator

Book Passage is searching for a dynamic candidate to join the Events Office in our Corte Madera location.

With over 800 author events per year, two internationally acclaimed annual conferences, an exciting array of writing and language classes, and of course, a comprehensive selection of books on a wide variety of topics, Book Passage is one of the world's leading bookstores and a Bay Area institution. We are committed to our community, working with a number of local schools, universities, and non-profit organizations, and striving to inspire creativity and learning for Bay Area residents of all ages. With our lively calendar of author events, writing and language classes, book clubs and more, no two days at Book Passage are alike. In addition to embracing daily excitement and challenges, general responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Booking author events for our Corte Madera store, as well as our San Francisco Ferry Building and Sausalito locations
  • Corresponding with authors and publishers regarding the planning and implementation of events
  • Active bookselling
  • Organizing and implementing various daily and long-range projects
  • Accurately and precisely preparing for events, both in-store and at off-site venues
  •  Assisting customers with events-related questions and procedures
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure cohesive events

Book Passage Café and Wine Bar is seeking applicants for back of house positions with potential for kitchen management, dependent upon restaurant experience. Applicants must be able to work weekday evenings and weekends. Pay scale is hourly (based on experience) plus shared house tips.

Passion for literature and farm-to-table cuisine a plus! Book Passage Café and Wine Bar offers opportunities for creativity and growth, making it a great place for up-and-coming hospitality interns to start building a resume. We are searching for an organized, detail-oriented team player with experience in both back and front of house roles.
