Direct to Press

Direct to Press

Our Direct to Press service is geared toward authors who have a manuscript written and have decided to pursue alternative publishing on their own. Here are some of the services that we offer:

• Referral to editors, copy editors, or other writing professionals, where needed, to help writers polish their manuscripts

• Referral to book design professionals to help authors produce an attractive book and to meet the specifications required by printers and e-book publishers

• Assistance in getting their book copyrighted, obtaining an ISBN, and similar services

• Referral to local printers in situations where authors want to print and distribute some or all of their books on their own

• Assistance in setting up an Ingram Spark account in order to make their book available for sale in the wider book market either as their basic method of distribution or in conjunction with local printing

• Assistance in preparing the book for listing on the Book Passage website

• Referral to publicists, book-blogging services, author organizations, and others who can help authors publicize their book once it has been published.

Book Passage will ordinarily carry books published through this program in our Corte Madera store for 90 days. Usually these books will be carried on consignment. If the book develops significant public interest while it is on sale in the store, the author may be invited to arrange an author event.
