This class by acclaimed Bay Area singer/songwriter Jeffrey Halford will cover the spectrum of writing lyrics, melodies and brainstorming creative and personal song ideas. Learn how the seed of an idea can blossom with your stamp of originality. The class will cover folk, blues and R&B, including pop hooks, riffs, progressions and poetry. We'll explore the pantheon of the best in work songs, protest songs, story songs, train songs, fight songs, groove songs and unrequited love songs. There are no rules. Class size will be limited to foster interaction and Q&A.

Texas-born songwriter, singer and guitarist Jeffrey Halford has shared the stage with such luminaries as Taj Mahal, Guy Clark, Jimmy Cliff, Los Lobos and Greg Allman, to name only a few. LA Weekly wrote, "I am here to place Halford in the pantheon of songwriters with John Prine, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan and John Fogerty." In 2011, Halford won best songwriter at the LA Music Awards. Class: Yvonne Horn - The Traveling Gardener

Yvonne Horn, award-winning travel writer, shares a PowerPoint presentation of eight gardens with tales to tell, gardens that express the passion of their creator. Among them are the poison garden at England’s Alnwick Castle; “Cougar Annie’s” garden in the wilderness of Vancouver Island; and Kokadera, Kyoto’s garden run amok in moss.

Yvonne Michie Horn has won multiple awards during her work as a travel writer, including two Lowell Thomas awards for Foreign Travel. Early on in her travels Yvonne began to understand that one can learn a lot about a place from its gardens, and while she admires the grand gardens of the world, she seeks out those with a compelling, unique story to be told. Yvonne is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, American Society of Journalists and Authors, and Garden Writers Association. When not traveling, she headquarters in Sonoma County where she negotiates for gardening space with deer, turkeys, and other critters.
