About the Author
Bruce is a Landscape Architect, an educator and co-host of the "Garden Compass," California's most popular syndicated gardening program. He has taught forticulture for years at the University of California San Diego extension program and has chaired the California Certified Nurseryman's program. A native San Diegan, he has also lived in Alburquerque, NM, Port Orchard, WA, and Yellow Springs, OH. Bruce and Sharon Asakawa have authored gardening articles for more than five decades. Their current California Gardener's Guide is in its fifth printing.
Sharon Asakawa began working in the family garden center business after she and Bruce married. Together they host the "Garden Compass," a syndicated radio program (heard twice-weekly throughout California), and share their knowledge in cooking, traveling and gardening for Garden Compass Magazine. They co-authored Bruce and Sharon Asakawa's California Gardener's Guide.
