The beloved original text now offered in a beautiful paperback edition by esteemed illustrator Inga Moore.
First published in 1911, The Secret Garden has entranced readers with the courage of two unhappy and withering children who become determined to make their lives, and the lives of others around them, more joyful. In this engaging unabridged edition, Inga Moore’s beautifully observed illustrations capture the magic of the secret garden springing to life under the tender care of Mary Lennox; her spoiled invalid cousin, Colin; and Dickon, a nature-loving Yorkshire boy.
About the Author
Frances Hodgson Burnett was a born storyteller. Even as a young child, her greatest pleasure was in making up stories and acting them out, using her dolls as characters. She wrote over forty books, including the classic A Little Princess, also illustrated by Tasha Tudor.
Inga Moore says that illustrating Kenneth Grahame's famous story was both great fun and a great challenge. "THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS is such a wonderful book that I never tire of reading it. I couldn't possibly let it down, so I had to do my best work ever." Of the wayward Mr. Toad, she adds, "He is a celebration of the life we would lead if only we could."
"The evocative paintings . . . reflect the wonders of transformations in both nature and in a child’s heart. All in all, a lovely interpretation." — School Library Journal
