She is the author of "Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson"; "Sex, Art, and American Culture"; and "Vamps & Tramps: New Essays," She has also written "The Birds," a study of Alfred Hitchcock. She lives in Philadelphia.
