Ann Frank's diary is among the most enduring documents of the twentieth century, and one of the most beloved autobiographies of all time. Since its publication in 1947, it has been read by millions of people all over the world--a cherished and greatly admired testament to the indestructible nature of the human spirit, in the face of the worst horror that the modern world has seen. The diary captures the remarkable spirit of Anne Frank, who remained triumphantly and heartbreakingly human throughout her ordeal.

The definitive edition, which restores a great deal of material not included in the original publication, deepens and broadens our sense of the remarkable young woman who composed it.
